Mr. Schekter is a semi-retired attorney and private legal consultant specializing in real estate law, mergers and acquisitions for more than 60 years. His interest in the field began after completing high school at Erasmus Hall High School and pursuing business studies at the University of Michigan. After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1951, Mr. Schekter recognized the opportunities available to an attorney with a strong background in trade and business, and he enrolled in Brooklyn Law School, graduating in 1954 with a Juris Doctor. The same year, he joined the firm of Margolin, Feldman & Schekter, rising from an employee to a partner of the firm before departing to become a senior partner in the practice of Achekter, Richty, Goldstein, & Blumenthal, P.C.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schekter maintained a prestigious Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent peer rating, and gained a reputation for his expertise in real estate law and his enthusiasm for teaching and coaching junior attorneys, earning the nickname “the professor” from the other partners at his practice. Since 2015, Mr. Schekter has stepped down from full-time legal work to enjoy golf, using the computer, and sitting on the board of the La Fontana Condominium Association. He still consults on the occasional real estate-based case but does not pursue full-time work in the field.
