Bruce Fox, attorney at Fox, Willis, Burnette PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
Mr. Fox has always been interested in pursuing a career in law. Despite growing up in a small, rural town, he admired the civic-minded lawyers from whom he learned the value of hard work, integrity and equity. Currently, his personal injury practice focuses on automobile accidents, workers’ compensation, products liability, hospital and nursing home injuries and trucking litigation. He has significant multi-state lead counsel class action litigation experience against a variety of defendants. In addition to managing the firm, attorneys and support staff, Mr. Fox has tried nearly 150 personal injury files and 450 cases in mass torts.
Mr. Fox obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1973. Upon his graduation with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law in 1976, he relocated to the United Kingdom in order to study at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law. Thereafter, he earned a Bachelor of Laws in international law in 1977. Mr. Fox has since been licensed to practice law by the Bar Association of Tennessee. Additionally, he was admitted as a fellow to the Tennessee Bar Foundation in 2012 and the Knoxville Bar Foundation in 2013.
Mr. Fox has maintained his affiliations with the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Inns of Court and the American Association for Justice. Moreover, he served as the president of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. In 2008, he was appointed by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to serve as a member of Tennessee’s Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council in order to shape legislative policy and law applicable to the rights of injured workers in Tennessee. Mr. Fox was reappointed to the aforementioned council in 2011 by Governor Bill Haslem.
For his achievements, Mr. Fox is proud to have been named as a Top Attorney by City View Magazine from 2008 to 2019 and a Top 100 Attorney in Tennessee by Mid-South Super Lawyers Magazine from 2012 to 2019. In addition, he was presented with the Paladin Award for East Tennessee from the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, an accolade which recognizes lawyers who work to protect the civil justice system and achieve outstanding results for a client despite great obstacles. He attributes his success to his stellar work ethic, fortuitous circumstances and a deep passion for his career path. Looking toward the future, Mr. Fox plans to enjoy his retirement and spend time with his 13 grandchildren.
