Stephen D. Aarons, Attorney at Law at Aarons Law Firm, PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in criminal defense law.
Mr. Aarons’ interest in law was inspired by a book he read at the age of eleven about a Southern attorney representing an African-American defendant that sparked his curiosity about the legal profession and criminal defense as a specialty. Before embarking on his career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from The George Washington University in 1976. He then received a Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University in 1979. Continuing with his education, he also took coursework in 1984 at Oxford University.
For Mr. Aarons, debating against the Secretary of State on foreign policy, while at Oxford University was a great achievement. He was also proud of a high-profile case representing 13 defendants on death row for charges related to a national security breach; ultimately Mr. Aarons was able to have all of the defendants’ sentences reduced. He began his career in 1979 as a lawyer with Volunteers in Service to America and Montana Legal Services before becoming a judge advocate for the U.S. Army Intelligence Command in Augsburg, Germany from 1980 to 1983. From there became joined the New Mexico Public Defender Department in 1984, as the chief capital trial defense counsel, remaining until 1989. In 1989, he became an associate of Jones, Snead, Wetheim, until 1992. Since 1992, he has been the managing attorney for Aarons Law Firm, PC. As a testament to his success, Mr. Aarons was listed in the 62nd edition of Who’s Who in America, 14th edition of Who’s Who in American Law, and the 31st edition of Who’s Who in the World.
