Prior to spearheading his career in the legal realm, Mr. Van Gilder earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in 1974. A skilled registered professional engineer, he had done civil structural work from the South Texas Nuclear Project to commercial and industrial chemicals. Eventually, Mr. Van Gilder desired a change of pace, as he believed his work had lost its original challenging nature. At this point, he went on to attain a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston in 1976 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 1981.
Reflecting on his illustrious career, Mr. Van Gilder attributes his vast success to a good work ethic, having worked since he could mow lawns as a young boy. He is most proud of owning and managing his practice for as long as he has, along with serving in the U.S. Army at West Point from 1969 to 1971. In five years’ time, Mr. Van Glider hopes to be ease into a well-deserved retirement and is interested in purchasing a condo in Costa Rica, as well as spending time at his own condo in Las Vegas.
