The work of a lawyer varies, but in Mr. Kilgore’s practice, he often provides his skills and expertise in drafting and negotiating transactional documents, MNA projects, win projects, joint venture agreements, corporate and project finances, and on project development like procurement and construction agreements. He has been with his firm since 2013 and has contributed to the success of his clients, colleagues and practice in all of his professional endeavors. Mr. Kilgore attributes his success to the firm that he works at, and the mentorship and leadership of the two main partners, John Mercer and Chip Thompson.
For Mr. Kilgore, becoming a lawyer was an act of being inspired by his father, who also practiced in energy law. Growing up and looking up to his father made the decision to follow in his footsteps an easy decision after he found the practice of law to be interesting. In his academic pursuits, Mr. Kilgore first earned a BBA in finance from the University of Georgia in 2009 before receiving a JD at the institution’s law school in 2013. In 2021, he was recognized as Best Lawyers One’s to Watch for Project Finance Law. He maintains professional affiliation with the American Bar Association and the George State Bar Association.
The career highlight that stands out the most to Mr. Kilgore thus far has been a deal he worked on, in which he represented one of the co-owners of Evogul Nuclear Power Expansion in their DOE loan guarantee negotiations. It was early in his career and he came on near the end of the deal, but it was the most complex and biggest deal that he has worked on. Looking toward the future, Mr. Kilgore hopes to be working on the same practice he is today, but having more of his own clients and on continue to grow as an attorney and person.
