Alan G. Greer, Of Counsel at Day Pitney LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of legal service.
With more than five decades of inimitable expertise in legal service to his credit, Mr. Greer has achieved professional success through his role of counsel on behalf of Day Pitney LLP, for which he previously served as a partner when it was known as Richman Greer PA. Based in Miami, Florida, the firm works with clients to reach a positive resolution to complex legal challenges through innovation, knowledge and experience that extends back to 1902. Initially joining the firm in 1969, Mr. Greer contributed his extensive knowledge of complex commercial litigation, professional liability defense and class action defense acumen on behalf of a wide variety of clients, most famously including Al Gore and the Florida Democratic Party during the consequential Bush vs Gore case in 2000.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Greer is notably the chairperson emeritus of the board of directors for the Friends of WLRN Public Radio and Television, the fundraising arm of the South Florida-based public broadcasting station. Likewise, he is a past chairperson for the Dade County Council of Arts and Sciences, and previously served on the Florida State Task Force on Water Issues, as well as the Governor’s Business Advisory Council on Education. Additionally, Mr. Greer served as the co-chairperson of the site selection committee for the Democratic National Committee in 1992, and as a past board chairperson of Camillus House, a nonprofit homeless shelter.
Though he initially hoped to serve as a career officer in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Greer was inspired to take the law school admission test, which he scored excellently on, and aligned his career path accordingly. Having already received a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1961, he subsequently attended the University of Florida, from which he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969. Following this accomplishment, Mr. Greer was admitted to practice law in the states of Florida and New York, as well as the District of Columbia.
Outside of his vocational circles, Mr. Greer is a published author, and has received a wealth of accolades for his two books, “Choices & Challenges, Lessons in Faith, Hope and Love,” published in 2009 and “God Is,” released in 2019. The latter work, informed by his Christian faith, examines the nature of the relationship that exists between humanity and the divine, and expounds on an argument intended to prove the existence of God and reconcile religion with modern-day science. A resident of Coral Gables, Florida, Mr. Greer has been married to his loving wife, Patricia, since 1981.
