Richard Samford Hunter Jr., Attorney at Law Offices of Richard Hunter, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in personal injury and mediation.

Inspired by his grandfather, a prominent lawyer in Raleigh, North Carolina, Mr. Hunter has since exhibited a more than 40-year career in law dedicated to personal injury and wrongful death cases. Originally a student at the Berklee College of Music, he studied classical jazz, guitar and arrangement. When he realized that his music career would either end up consisting of teaching, performing others’ music or being a starving artist, he chose to switch gears to being a lawyer. Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1977, Mr. Hunter went on to achieve a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1980. He commenced his career as an associate at Green & Mann and at Debnam, Hibbert & Pahl between 1980 and 1985 before accepting the role as a partner at Futrell, Hunter & Bingham in 1985.

Since 1997, Mr. Hunter has flourished at his private practice, the Law Offices of Richard Hunter, where he is a civil litigation attorney, as well as a certified mediator. Notably, he is AV-Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Charlotte Magazine. Additionally, he was also listed in the May 2009 edition of Business Leader Legal Guide as “One of the Triangle’s Best Personal Injury Lawyers.” Mr. Hunter is a former president and vice president of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a fellow of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. Likewise, he is currently affiliated with the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Wake County Bar Association, North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, Food Bank of North Carolina and Roscoe Pound Foundation. To attest to his legacy, Mr. Hunter is also listed in editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
