Noreena K. Chaudari, JD, Assistant Counsel at New York State Department of Public Service, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public service.

Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts in government and international relations from Clark University in 2012, Ms. Chaudari went on to attain a Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from the University of Buffalo Law School in 2017. That same year, she gained initial experience as an extern for the Federal District Court in the Western District of New York before becoming an assistant counsel and excelsior fellow with the New York State Department of Public Service. Ms. Chaudari continues to serve in this role today, in which she is assigned matters that are before the New York State Board Electric Siting and the Environment or New York State Public Commission and coordinates with the Department of Child Services regarding reviewing applications, drafting rebuttable testimonies and attending settlement meetings.

Finding great success in her career trajectory, Ms. Chaudari was the recipient of the Cali Excellence for the Future Award from the Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction in 2015. Notably, in 2017, the University at Buffalo School of Law granted her the Robert J. Connelly Trial Technique Award, the Moot Evidence Award and the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal for Excellence in Bankruptcy Award. Ms. Chaudari attributes her success to hard work and making the best out of opportunities. Reflecting, she cites her career highlight was working on consumer complaints and drafting decisions for the commission. The cases she worked on resulted in more than $5,000 dollars in credit or refund to New York State Consumer within her first two years of public service. Looking ahead, Ms. Chaudari hopes to still be in government or another public sector role, looking out for consumers and continue being in public service.
