Today, Mr. Ortegon excels as the presiding municipal court judge for the city of Alto, Texas, a role he took on in 2008. In addition, he has been an attorney practicing out of his eponymously named firm, Carlos E. Ortegon P.C., for the past 16 years, specializing in criminal law, capital murders, family law and personal injury.

Finding great success in his career, Mr. Ortegon was added to the Real Green Valley Walk of Fame. He attributes his vast success to his own mentorship and the trust he instills in his clients. With this sentiment, he considers his career highlight has been building a practice based on trust and client satisfaction. He was also particularly proud to have become certified in the judicial region of the State of Texas. To remain abreast of his industry, Mr. Ortegon maintains professional affiliation with the Hidalgo County Bar Association.

Prior to his career in law, Mr. Ortegon ran a 100-acre cattle ranch and was the manager of a family oil and gas mineral interest. Alongside his primary roles, the law professional has been a volunteer to the Sherryland School District, as well as the city prosecutor for the City of Mission since 2014. Mr. Ortegon’s father notably served as the mayor of the city from 1971 to 1984 and was a major founder of the Mission Hospital. Devoted to service through the law, Mr. Ortegon aims to continue to build his practice and his own skills for years to come.
