Having accrued nearly 15 years of experience in law, Mr. Cohen has excelled as the owner and attorney of Laurence J. Cohen and as an attorney with Bradford, Perlstein & Associates since 2011. Specializing in criminal defense, civil litigation and health law, he recalls his most notable achievement was getting his client’s debt discharged to bankruptcy in federal court against more experienced attorneys. Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Cohen was an enumerator for the U.S. Census Bureau and a class administrator for BarBri in 2010. In 2009, he had been a certified legal intern for the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General Health Fraud and Whistleblower Unit and a judicial extern for the Honorable Joseph M. Shortall-Complex Litigation Docket at Hartford Superior Court. Mr. Cohen gained early experience as a certified legal intern for the Connecticut Department of Health Legal Department, a legal intern for the Law Office of Erskine D. McIntosh and a workers compensation representative for the American Postal Workers Union.
Mr. Cohen received a Bachelor of Science in sports medicine from Old Dominion University, cum laude, in 1996 and a Master of Business Administration in health care management from the University of Connecticut in 2006. He went on to achieve a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Quinnipiac University School of Law, cum laude, in 2009 and a Master of Laws in trial advocacy from the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law in 2011. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Cohen was admitted to practice in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as before the state’s district courts. Finding great success in his career, he has been the recipient of an Award for Academic Excellence in Sports Medicine and an Award for Excellence in Clinical Work. A member of the Hampden County Bar Association, he attributes his success to hard work and exceptional colleagues. In five years’ time, Mr. Cohen hopes to be admitted to the patent bar and conduct strictly superior court trial and appeals work.
