Ms. Conlin initially wanted to become an actress until she encountered a nun that saw great potential in her. In the 1960s, women usually were not lawyers but the nun suggested she should try the field. She matriculated at Drake University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1964, a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1966 and a Master of Public Administration in 1979. She also received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Dubuque in 1975. Since 1991, she has excelled as a partner of Roxanne Conlin & Associates.

Ms. Conlin began her career as an associate with Davis, Huebner, Johnson & Burt in 1966, remaining for a year. The following year, she was a deputy industrial commissioner for the state of Iowa. She then became an assistant attorney general in 1969, for the state of Iowa until 1976. In 1977, she was the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Iowa, remaining until 1981. From 1983 to 1991, she was a partner with Conlin, Professional Corporation. Reflecting on her career trajectory, Ms. Conlin brought a class action case against Microsoft, which was tried for three months that resulted in a settlement of $250,000,000. She also brought a case on behalf of Iowa’s only openly gay industrial commissioner when the governor tried to fire him because of his sexual orientation. Notably, she won her client $1.5 million.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Conlin has received myriad awards including being named Midwest CEO’s most influential Women in 2008 and named One of 10 Most Influential Women Attorneys by the National Law Journal in 2002. In addition, she was listed in 50 Most Powerful Women Attorneys in 1998, 100 Most Influential Attorneys in 1991 and Top 10 Litigators by the National Law Journal in 1989. Notably, she has a scholarship in her honor from the Kansas City Women Lawyers.

Presently, Ms. Conlin maintains membership affiliation with various organizations including the American Association for Justice, where she held numerous positions. She is also involved with the National Organization of Women, National Center of State Court Lawyers Committee and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, to name a few. She is also listed in numerous editions of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in America.
