Ian M. Pickens, Esq., Associate Attorney at Meldon Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in criminal defense.
Hailing from a family of lawyers, Mr. Pickens has dedicated his professional career to protecting the right of the accused in north-central Florida. Since 2017, he has excelled as an assistant attorney with Meldon Law, in which he specializes in driving under the influence (DUI) and criminal defense. Prior, Mr. Pickens served as assistant state attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit from 2014 to 2017, where he handled numerous cases ranging from misdemeanor DUIs to first-degree felonies. To remain abreast of his field, he maintains affiliation with the Florida Bar Association and Young Lawyers’ Committee. Having served as president of the Marion County Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, he has been involved with Marion County Child Mentor since 2016. In addition, Mr. Pickens regularly attend seminars and conferences to stay up to date on the trends, technology and cutting-edge motion practice in law.
Mr. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology from Westminster College in 2011 before obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Florida Coastal School of Law in 2014. From there, he was admitted to practice law in the state of Florida. Notably, Mr. Pickens has been recognized on several occasions, having been featured in the American Academy of Attorneys’ Top 40 Under 40. He was also presented with a Top 10 DUI Defense Attorney Award from Attorney and Practice Magazine and received an AVVO 10 Rating. Likewise, he has authored DUI defense guides for the Third, Fifth and Eighth Judicial Circuits, as well as numerous articles through Meldon Law. He attributes his success to his genuine care and concern for his clients’ legal stance. In the coming years, Mr. Pickens envisions himself spearheading a firm alongside his brother, as well as becoming a judge.
