Kristina Veaco, Founder and Principal at the Veaco Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corporate governance.

A renowned corporate governance advisor for the Veaco Group since 2006, Ms. Veaco holds nearly 40 years of experience in the legal realm. She began her firm upon realizing that companies did not have their own internal resources that they needed to meet their government’s requirements. In her role today, Ms. Veaco provides practical corporate governance advisory and support services to public, private and nonprofit entities, including pension funds and their boards. She also specializes in providing independent board evaluations, skills assessments, governance audits, stock administration governance and other governance solutions to improve board effectiveness.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Veaco advised public companies on securities law compliance and corporate governance as in-house corporate securities counsel. She served as assistant general counsel and assistant secretary to McKesson Corp., a Fortune 500 company from 1999 to 2006 and as senior counsel of corporate, securities and politics law for AirTouch Communications from 1994 to 1998. Additionally, she was senior counsel to Pacific Telesis Group from 1986 to 1994 and a legal advisor to Commissioner William T. Bagley for the California Public Utilities Commission from 1994 to 1998.

A longstanding member of the Society for Corporate Governance, Ms. Veaco is a former president of the Northern California Chapter, a member of the advisory board and a former member of the national board of the society for several years. In addition, she is a senior fellow of the Conference Board Governance Center and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for her work in corporate governance at the Women’s 100 in 2018. Ms. Veaco’s advice to aspiring legal professionals is to get involved with outside organizations and build networking skills.

Ms. Veaco received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and public service from the University of California, Davis in 1978 where she was a Regents Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Notably, she went on to achieve a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Hastings College of Law in 1981. Attracted to law by her interest in political science, Ms. Veaco also believes her way of thinking matched those of legal professionals. To attest to her legacy, she can also be found in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women. In her spare time, Ms. Veaco enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and family time.
