Peter V. Culbert, Attorney at the Law at Law Office of Peter V. Culbert, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in workers’ compensation.

From watching his father excel as an attorney for the federal government, Mr. Culbert desired to delve into the profession in order to help others. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cornell University in 1966 and a Master of Arts from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1969. Shortly thereafter, he achieved a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of New Mexico in 1977, where he has been a processing editor for the university’s New Mexico Law Review. That same year, he became certified to practice in New Mexico, as well as before the U.S. District Court for New Mexico and U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

Upon commencing his professional career, Mr. Culbert served as a law clerk to Honorary Mack Easley of the New Mexico Supreme Court in 1977 and 1978. For the following 20 years, from 1978 to 1998, he excelled as a senior partner at Jones, Snead, Wertheim, Wentworth & Jaramillo in Sante Fe, New Mexico. From there, Mr. Culbert established his own firm, where he wished to serve those who were unable to represent themselves in the court of law. Since 1998, he has practiced out of the Law Office of Peter V. Culbert, where he has specialized in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and medical negligence for more than 20 years.

Finding great success throughout the course of his illustrious career, Mr. Culbert was the recipient of an honorary certificate from the Strathmore Registry of Business Leaders in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Additionally, he was granted a State Bar Award for Pro Bono Work. Looking back, Mr. Culbert’s career highlights have been taking an appeal up to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and winning the Chavez v. Singer case. He is also proud to have become a semi-professional Flamenco guitarist. He attributes all of his successes to commitment and dedication.

To remain abreast of his industry, Mr. Culbert maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. He also holds life membership with the Santa Fe Canyon Association and Alpha Delta Phi. Likewise, he has served Desert Chorale as an advisory board member and legal counsel since 1991, as well as a member of the board of directors from 1986 to 1991. Looking ahead, Mr. Culbert hopes to engage in some leisurely travel. His advice to aspiring lawyers is to think carefully and keep up with your work. To attest to his legacy, Mr. Culbert can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
