From watching “Perry Mason” in his youth, Mr. Erlach quickly became enamored by the legal profession. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in political science and government from the University of San Francisco in 1970, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of San Francisco Law School I 1973. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Erlach was admitted to practice law in the state of California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, U.S. Districts for the Northern, Central and Eastern Districts of California, U.S. Tax Court and Supreme Court of the United States. Additionally, in 1983, he achieved a Master of Laws in taxation from Golden Gate University. Today, Mr. Erlach has been honorably A/V Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell for 36 years.

An attorney at law at the Law Offices of Raymond Erlach for nearly 50 years, Mr. Erlach specializes in civil litigation, business law, construction law and intellectual property. Likewise, he has served as a judge pro tempore for the San Francisco Superior Court since 1984. Mr. Erlach commenced his career in 1973 as an assistant district attorney in San Francisco, excelling in his initial role until 1980 when he was appointed to the deputy city attorney for two years. Pivoting to the educational sector, he offered his legal expertise as an adjunct faculty member at the School of Tax at Golden Gate University in 1985 and 1986, as well as at the University of San Francisco School of Law from 1993 to 2001. In addition, Mr. Erlach had served of counsel to the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco from 1996 to 2000 and on the panel of judicial arbitrators for the San Francisco Superior Court from 1998 to 2012.

A lifetime fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Mr. Erlach notably serves on the State Bar of California Conference of Delegates, along with involvement in its litigation section since 1995. Likewise, he has served on the board of governors for the Lawyers’ Club of San Francisco since 1989 and on the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Committee of Fee Disputes and Litigation Section as an arbitrator since 1983. Mr. Erlach has also held membership with the Federal Circuit Bar Association since 2008 and the National Conference of Bar Presidents since 1995, among other notable organizations. Upon his civic duties, he has been vice president of the Marin Medical Reserve Corps Foundation since 2012. Previously, he was second vice president of the California Youth Soccer Association from 2010 to 2012.

Looking back on his illustrious legal career, Mr. Erlach attributes his success to his attention to detail, the study of the law and understanding of legal principles that underlay the simple written black and white law. With this sentiment, he is the author of, “Trial Preparation: Visualizing the Big Picture Early On Is Essential to Effective Presentation of Your Case.” He also authored, “Tax Shelters and Return on Investment” for Golden Gate University course material and “Trial Preparation: Presenting Conflicting Evidence with Convincing Force” for the Practitioner. Along with his numerous career achievements, Mr. Erlach recalls the highlight of his life has been raising his daughter, who is now a nurse anesthetist. In five years’ time, he plans to continue to argue cases for his clients at a reasonable price. He works and lives by his motto, “Do right by others.”
