John D. Saxon, President and Managing Partner at John D. Saxon, P.C., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in employment law.

Since 1995, Mr. Saxon has dedicated himself to defending the rights of workers victimized by unlawful discrimination as the president and principal of John D. Saxon, P.C. A graduate of the University of Alabama, he completed a Bachelor of Arts with honors before earning a Juris Doctor in 1977. He holds an additional Master of Arts from the University of North Carolina and attended the Stanford University Executive Program.

Mr. Saxon began his career in Washington as a White House Fellow, part of an extremely exclusive program connecting students and young professionals with promising leadership skills with others in the highest levels of the federal government. Likewise, these individuals earn an opportunity to serve as a Special Assistant to the Vice President of the United States. Through the 1980s, he acted as special counsel to the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Jurisprudence and Government Relations, the Select Committee on Ethics, and the United States Senate Armed Services Committee, including a 1988 select committee on secret military assistance to Iran and Nicaragua. In addition to his work for the United States Government, Mr. Saxon excelled as the director of corporate issues for RCA and in private practice as a partner of several firms.

As a part of his commitment to the future of the legal profession and its active role in the larger community, Mr. Saxon is a member of the Board of Governors of the Alabama School of Law, the Board of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and a former professor at the University of Alabama, the University of Maryland, and the American University Washington College of Law. He has contributed extensively to professional journals and book chapters, and he has been presented with numerous awards throughout his career. These include a 2008 Sam W. Pipes Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Alabama School of Law, among others. Mr. Saxon has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America each year since 2009 and he has been an Alabama Super Lawyer for over ten consecutive years. He credits his success to hard work, an openness to possibility, and the influence and support of early mentors, including reporter Ray Sherer and former University of Alabama President, Dr. David Matthews. Further, Mr. Saxon is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Bar Association and the Order of Barristers. He has been profiled in numerous prior editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Industry, and Who’s Who in American Law.
