Backed by more than 40 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Lewis currently excels as senior counsel and partner Morrison & Foerster, LLP. The law firm focuses on a wide range of bankruptcy and insolvency matters, including the representation of lenders, landlords and other parties to executory contracts and assisting clients in the purchase of assets. Additionally, he has specializes in the interplay between bankruptcy law and such areas as class actions in bankruptcy proceedings, environmental law, telecommunications, intellectual property and distressed real estate. In the past, he contributed as an administrative assistant with Kaiser Hospital in San Diego from 1972 to 1976.
A graduate of the University of Santa Barbara, Mr. Lewis earned a Bachelor of Philosophy in 1968. Soon thereafter, he received a Master of Philosophy from the aforementioned institution in 1974. Five years later, he concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from King Hall School of Law at the University of California, Davis. He is admitted to practice through The State Bar of California and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, as well as the United States Supreme Court, and the Ninth, Tenth, Seventh, Second and Fifth Circuit United States Courts of Appeal.
In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Lewis is especially proud of winning a case in the Supreme Court and, taking part in notable cases such as Downey Financial Corp and Cline v. First Nationwide Mortgage Corp. For his professional excellence, Mr. Lewis has been honored many times, earning the Amjur Award from the University of California Davis, an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who, and two features in Who’s Who in American Law in 1987 and 1993.
