Since his formative years, Mr. Hansom had desired to become a lawyer. He received a Bachelor of Arts in history and language with a minor in political science from the University of Memphis, where he served as president of the Free Legal Society during his undergraduate years. In 1973, he went on to obtain a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Memphis School of Law. With his chosen career, Mr. Hansom most enjoys being able to help people who cannot help themselves in times of legal turmoil. It is not the $10 million verdicts that are most rewarding, but those that help the average people from being swindled.
Since 1981, Mr. Hansom has served as a notable attorney and owner of the Law Office of Thomas E. Hansom located in Tennessee. For the past 38 years at his eponymously-named firm, he has utilized his earlier years of work to supplement his innate ability to represent and build cases for his clients in the court of law. Recently, he has taken on jury trials for police civil trial cases and is also working on cases in Arkansas and Mississippi. Commencing his professional career in 1973, Mr. Hansom has also been a commissioned officer of the Memphis Police Department since 1977. Likewise, he serves as a board member to the Coach Larry Finch Memorial Project at the University of Memphis.
A former member of the United States Army and airplane flyer, Mr. Hansom currently maintains affiliation with the Memphis Police Association. Finding great success throughout the course of his illustrious career, he has been AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale Hubbell for more than 30 years. He attributes his vast career success simply to hard work, as well as good luck. His advice to aspiring lawyers is to maintain ethics and professionalism. In five years’ time, Mr. Hansom plans to be settled into his retirement on a beach somewhere. With his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
