Daniel Patrick Farrell, Retired Union President at Association of Municipal Employees, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in union advocacy.
From his experience as a union employee, Mr. Farrell knew that areas of unions were lacking in multiple ways. Feeling compelled to do something to spark change, Mr. Farrell commenced his professional career working for the Suffolk County Department of Public Works on Long Island, New York. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Association of Municipal Employees, where he contributed as a board member for 12 years and treasurer for nine years. Most recently, he notably served as union president from 2017 to 2019, in which he dealt with negotiating contracts for the union.
Upon his civic duties, Mr. Farrell has contributed to the Benefit Fund as the board chair and investment committee chair. In addition, he has been a Suffolk County union representative for the Deferred Compensation Plan. Further, he was a notary public member of Roberts Rules in Parliamentary Association. Looking back on his career, he attributes his success to his hard work and dedication to helping people get what they actually deserve. His advice to those aspiring to represent union workers is to always have an open mind and be willing to listen to people, as he says the greater whole is better than the single.
Mr. Farrell earned a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from St. Joseph’s College in 2014, as well as a certificate from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. To remain abreast of his community and industry, he maintains affiliation with the Parliamentarians, Knights of Columbus, and The Honorary Ancient Order of Hibernians. Currently retired, Mr. Farrell intends to continue to enjoy his free time but is open to returning to union work depending on the circumstances. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, hiking, and kayaking.
