While in law school, he was named a President’s Fellow and began his focus on civil rights by studying criminal justice through legal research assistantships for area firms and as the Equity and Diversity Coordinator for California State University.
As a part of his commitment to legal activism, Mr. Ali was appointed as the Director of the Justice by Jury Reform Initiative, the Stop and Frisk Academy, and the Veterans Legal Clinic of Southern California.
