David P. Matthews, Attorney-at-Law at Mathews & Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
From a young age, Mr. Matthews had excelled in argument and debate settings, which led him to pursue a career as a trial lawyer. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts in political science and Spanish in 1984. He then went on to acquire a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the South Texas College of Law in 1988. In the years that followed, Mr. Matthews became licensed to practice law in the states of Texas, Mississippi, New York and Pennsylvania. Likewise, he is also certified to practice law before the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States District Court for the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
For nearly 20 years, from 1989 until 2007, Mr. Matthews has established himself as a respected professional in his field through his work as an attorney and partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agostino & Friend. In the years since leaving the practice, he became an attorney-at-law at Matthews & Associates where he handles clergy abuse lawsuits, as well as COVID-19 business interruption insurance claims. Since 2007, Mr. Matthews has excelled in this role, consistently demonstrating success with every case he wins. Active in his civic endeavors, he sits on the board of directors for the Human Rights First Organization. Reflecting on his career trajectory, Mr. Matthews attributes his success to his passion for justice and his integrity. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue on his current path for as long as possible.
