Andrew Porter Wagner, Attorney and Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in transportation tax.
From his early training as a locomotive engineer from 1978 to 1980, Mr. Wagner pivoted his transportation-related interests into a career in the legal industry. Upon spearheading his professional career, he served as a tax attorney for American Airlines for 14 years and was vice president of tax law for FedEx for a notable 21 years. In these roles, Mr. Wagner notably handled tax matters in all 50 states, including Puerto Rico. Today, he works as a consultant advising on tax matters, particularly in transportation tax, and is constantly reading and learning about the latest tax materials. Placing high standards on character and credibility, Mr. Wagner attributes his career success to competency, creativity, cost effectiveness and accountability. Looking ahead, he is considering sharing his wealth of knowledge by entering the world of teaching.
Presently, Mr. Wagner maintains affiliation with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Bar Association, Tax Executive Institute and Institute for Professionals in Taxation, of which he served on the governing board from 2010 to 2015. Likewise, he served on the advisory boards for the Shelly County School Education Foundation, American Education Foundation and Hartman SALT Seminar. Mr. Wagner earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Bucknell University in 1978 and went on to achieve a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1982. Matriculating at Southern Methodist University, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1984, as well as Master of Laws in taxation in 1990. A certified public accountant, he also received a CMI tax designation from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
