James Prescott Curry, Esp., Attorney at Curry PL, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in blockchain, corporate law, and compliance.
With a background in information technology and cybersecurity, Mr. Curry brings a unique perspective to his business practice, which focuses on blockchain, e-commerce, and cyber risk management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College, where he majored in information technology and saw the rise and fall of the early dotcom startup years as an insider. Realizing the value of being well-versed in business and intellectual property law, he returned to school, earning a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2004.
Since 2005, Mr. Curry has been a member of Curry PL, where he continues to concentrate his practice in emerging areas of information science and business. He has been admitted to practice law in Florida, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia. Likewise, he has argued before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Previously, Mr. Curry has served as compliance counsel to a small brokerage firm, where he argued a case resulting in a precedent-setting no-action relief letter from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In addition to his legal work, Mr. Curry holds a patent for an assistive method for online access. He also has a Chief Information Security Officer certification from Carnegie Mellon University and an Amazon Web Services Associate Solutions Architect credential. As a leader in his specialty, Mr. Curry is the past chair of the Florida Bar Association’s Business Law Section and Computer and Technology Law Committee. He remains a member of the Standing Committee on Technology. He serves as the Chair of the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s Business Law, Judicial Liaison, and Professionalism Committees. Further, Mr. Curry is the director emeritus of the Craig S. Barnard American Inn of Court. In recognition of his outstanding record of practice, Mr. Curry was presented with a 2014 Certificate of Appreciation from the Southern Poverty Law Center. He was also named a 2020 Lawyer of Distinction. Outside his professional practice, Mr. Curry is active in the Sons of the American Revolution, acting as a solicitor of the Palm Beach chapter of the Florida Sons of the Revolution. Prior to beginning his legal career, he was drafted to the 1998 Oakland Raiders. He remains a sports fan, enjoying golf, boating, and other outdoor activities.
