Mr. Mushkin became involved in his profession through a natural progression of opportunities. His father’s best friend was a judge in New York City and a mentor to Mr. Mushkin from the age of 14. Intrigued to become involved in politics, he was elected class speaker in high school and vice president of his senior class. Mr. Mushkin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1953 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard University in 1956. Upon completion of his degrees, Mr. Mushkin was admitted to practice law in New York, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of New York. Later on, he was admitted to practice in Connecticut and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
In retrospect, developing the evidence used to desegregate Fairbanks, Alaska was the highlight of Mr. Mushkin’s career. He began his career in 1958 with Frish & Goldfluss, staying until 1960. In 1960, he became a senior attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission until 1964. From 1970 to 1985, he was a partner with Philips & Mushkin, Professional Corporation and then became a partner with Blodnick, Pomeranz, Schultz & Abramowitz, Professional Corporation for the next three years. From 1988 to 2019, he was the principal of the Law Offices of Martin Mushkin, LLC. During that time, he also held the role of partner at Pomeranz, Gottlieb & Mushkin, LLC from 1997 to 1998. Since 2006, he has been the principal of Mushkinlaw.com. As a testament to his success, Mr. Mushkin has received a five out of five Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been listed in the fifth and ninth editions of Who’s Who in American Law.
