William L. Norton III, Partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business bankruptcy.
Mr. Norton’s father, William Norton Jr., was a bankruptcy judge in Atlanta and a lawyer before that. Growing up in that environment, Mr. Norton always wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. Coming out of high school, he first joined the United States Navy for four years. Immediately after retiring from the military, he applied to law school. Mr. Norton then matriculated at Vanderbilt University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration in 1975 and a Juris Doctorate in 1982.
The most rewarding aspect of Mr. Norton’s career is being recognized for being a capable expert in bankruptcy law. As a result of his accomplishments, he was recognized by the American College of Bankruptcy Lawyers. Mr. Norton began his career as an attorney with Watkins McGugin McNelly & Rowan in 1982, remaining until 1984. Since 1982, he has been a manager with the Norton Institutes of Bankruptcy Law and a partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cumming. He has also held the position of adjunct professor at the Vanderbilt University Law School since 1998. As a testament to his success, Mr. Norton has received an Outstanding Turnaround Professional Award from the Turnaround Management Association in 2016. He has also been inducted as a member of the American College of Bankruptcy Law, the National Downtown Rotary Club, and the Westend Methodist Church. He was the founder of the Tennessee Turnaround Management Association. Outside of his professional ventures, Mr. Norton is a family man. He is consistently rewarded by spending time with his family.
