In addition to his nearly 40 years of litigation experience, Mr. Foley has served as a mediator and arbitrator for the past 26 years. To remain abreast in his industry, Mr. Foley maintains affiliation with the Shamrock Bar Association, Wayne County Bar Association and Oakland Bar Association. Likewise, he has been a part of family law mediation in his region since its beginnings when he served as a volunteer mediator in the Wayne County Circuit Family Court mediation pilot project at the invitation of the Honorable William Callahan. He is a past member of the Wayne County Bench/Bar Committee and has served, by invitation, as a mediator for the Michigan Court of Appeals in Family Law cases. Outside of his primary work, Mr. Foley contributes to those in need as a Catholic pre-marriage counselor with Living in Love, as well as in a pro-bono capacity to local religious leaders, including priests and imams.
Mr. Foley became inspired to pursue law by his neighbor, who served as an attorney for the Ford Motor Company. Upon commencing his collegiate studies, he received a Bachelor of Arts in English and political science from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan in 1977. In 1980, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Detroit College of Law and was subsequently admitted to practice by the State Bar of Michigan and before the Eastern District of Michigan and Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Foley’s advice to aspiring legal professionals is to be prepared to work long and hard hours. He also advises to not choose a profession based on the salary, but rather because you have a passion for serving people in that capacity. In his spare time, Mr. Foley enjoys golfing and participating in activities on the water.
