James A. Gale, Esq, Co-Chair of IP Litigation at Cozen O’Connor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in litigation.
Prior to spearheading his legal career, Mr. Gale earned an Associate of Arts from Broward College in 1976. He then matriculated at the University of Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and cell science in 1980 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1983. Upon completion of his degree, Mr. Gale was admitted to practice law by the Florida Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of the United States, United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Sixth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits and the District Courts of Florida. In 2007, the Florida Bar certified him in intellectual property.
Mr. Gale began his career as an associate attorney with Board & Cassel in 1983, remaining until 1985. From there he became an associate attorney with Morgan Lewis & Bockius until 1989. In 1989, Mr. Gale became a partner and of counsel with McDermott Will & Emery, until 1995. From 1994 to 1997, he was the vice president and general counsel of Telectronics Pacing Systems. In 1995, he also became the president of Feldman Gale P.A., where he remained until 2016. Since 2016, he has held the role of co-chair of IP litigation for Cozen O’Connor.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Gale has been listed in Super Lawyers Magazine since 2006 and was named Patent Law Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America from 2016 to 2018. Additionally, he has been named One of the Best Lawyers in America, as well as to Top Attorneys in Florida in Intellectual Property Law by Florida Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America in Litigation-Intellectual Property and Patent Law and Top 10 Intellectual Property Lawyers in the United States. Mr. Gale was also named Top 100 Florida Super Lawyers in 2009, Top 10 IP Litigation Lawyers by US Lawyer Rankings since 2008 and Top Lawyers and Law Firms in South Florida by South Florida Legal Guide since 2003. Notably, he received a Tier One Ranking by Chambers USA in 2020 and is a member of the Board of Legal Specialization and Education.
