George L. Lankford, Attorney at Fanning Harper Martinson Brandt Kutchin, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in insurance litigation.
During his high school years, Mr. Lankford was involved in a car wreck with a prominent business executive and was ticketed for the accident. He was appalled by the actions of the police officer and he challenged the violation at the traffic court, in which he was granted forgiveness. Empowered by his first taste of law, Mr. Lankford has now notably represented clients in insurance coverage and bad faith disputes from the trial courts of Texas to the Supreme Court of Texas for more than 30 years. He commenced his legal career as a briefing attorney for Chief Justice Austin McCloud in 1983, later serving as a law clerk for the District Judge David Beluge Jr. from 1985 to 1990. Mr. Lankford joined Fanning Harper Martinson Brandt & Kutchin in 1992, serving as an attorney until 2010 before returning in 2016, where he remains today. Additionally, he was a partner at Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom LLP from 2010 to 2016.
Mr. Lankford received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979 and a Master of Business Administration from the Texas Tech Graduate School of Business in 1983. That same year, he also achieved a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Texas Tech School of Law. Acquiring numerous accolades throughout his career, Mr. Lankford has been named to Best Lawyers in America for Insurance Law from 2009 to 2020 and to Texas Super Lawyers from 2006 to 2007 and 2012 to 2019. AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, he received a Rock Star Award from the State Bar of Texas in 2015. In addition, a dedicated member and Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America, he has earned the Robert E. Little Award, Silver Beaver District Award of Merit, and service awards from the troop. Mr. Lankford attributes his success to being detail-oriented and seeking guidance. Presently, he maintains affiliation with the State Bar of Texas, Defense Research Institute, Houston Bar Association, and Dallas Bar Association. Mr. Lankford is also a past member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.
