Beti Tsai Bergman, Attorney at Peninsula Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in estate planning, trust and probate law.
Despite studying mathematics in her undergraduate years, Ms. Bergman always knew she wanted to pursue a career as a lawyer. She earned a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics from the University of California Los Angeles and went on to receive a Master of Science in applied mathematics from California State University Long Beach. Continuing with her education, she earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of California Davis School of Law in 1997. Upon completion of her degrees, Ms. Berman because certified in estate planning and trust and probate law by the California Board of Legal Specialization. She also received a Master Advocate Designation from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Notably, Ms. Bergman was a city attorney before commencing her own practice. After having her children, she decided to begin her own firm and focus more on family issues.
Ms. Bergman attributes her success to focusing hard on her work. She is an advocate for her clients and believes her reputation grew from the dedicated work she has completed. Since 1997, she has held the role of private practice business litigator, as well as the role of deputy city attorney for the City of Los Angeles since 2006. Simultaneously, in 2019, she was a judge pro tem and founded her firm, Peninsula Law, where she continues to serve as an attorney. A strong believer in giving back, Ms. Bergman has been a volunteer settlement officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court and Probate Court. In addition to her numerous civic roles, she has been a pro bono volunteer for the Asian Legal Service Clinic and an officer and board of governors member for the Asian Pacific Women Lawyers’ Association since 2000. Ms. Bergman has also served on the Torrance Memorial Hospital Professional Advisory Council since 2017 and on the LACBA Trust & Estates Executive Committee since 2017.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Bergman has received the Best of Torrance Award from the Local Business Category in 2018 and 2019, as well as a 10.0 Superb Rating as a Top Attorney in Litigation and a 10.0 Superb Rating as a Top Attorney in Probate. Listed in Super Lawyers Top Women in Southern California, she was named a Top Attorney by Los Angeles Magazine and was inducted into the Torrance business Hall of Fame. Notably, Ms. Bergman was named to the 10 Best Estate Planning Attorneys by the American Institute of Legal Counsel and the Top Three Estate Planning Lawyers by ThreeBestRated. Finding great success in her roles, she has also been inducted as a member of various esteemed organizations throughout the state of California. She maintains affiliation with Kappa Alpha Theta, the Southern California Chinese Lawyers’ Association, of which she is a past president and on the board of governors, and with the UCLA Asian Pacific Alumni, where she was formerly on the board of directors.
