Honorable Kelley Kostin, District Court Judge at Oakland County, Michigan, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in judicial review.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan in 1983, Ms. Kostin went into a five-year fast track management program with the Ford Motor Company. Deciding to pursue a different career, she served as a clerk to the Honorable Fred M. Mester of the Oakland County Circuit Court from 1989 to 1991 and notably earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Detroit in 1991. Upon spearheading her legal career, Ms. Kostin was an associate at a private firm for 13 years and served as a magistrate to the 52nd District Court of Oakland County from 1998 to 2005. Since 2005, she had honorably served as a judge for the Second Division to the 52nd District Court of Oakland County, where she presides over misdemeanor criminal matters, preliminary examinations, civil and traffic matters, weddings, small claims cases and administrative issues.
Ms. Kostin currently holds membership with the State Bar of Michigan, Oakland County Bar Association, Sobriety and Veteran’s Therapy Courts and Oakland County Community Corrections Advisory Board. A fellow of the Oakland County Bar Foundation, she previously held executive roles with the Oakland County District Judge’s Association, Clarkston Area Optimist, Notre Dame Preparatory Academy, Regional Anti-Drug Education and Outreach and Clarkston Coalition for Youth. The recipient of various accolades, Ms. Kostin earned a Community Service Award from the Village of Holly Police Department in 2008 and was named Youth Volunteer of the Year by the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce in 2002. To add to her professional prowess, Ms. Kostin is the co-author of, “Michigan Drunk Driving Law and Practice.”
