Backed by a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University, Mr. Bonnie began his career as a probation and parole officer for the state of Louisiana. As he carried out his responsibilities, he found himself spending a lot of time in courtrooms. It was only a short time before Mr. Bonnie felt drawn to pursue a career as a lawyer. He proceeded to earn a Juris Doctor from Southern University in Los Angeles. Since 1993, he has excelled in his position as a lawyer with his private practice, Terry L. Bonnie, APLC. He specializes in police misconduct, worker’s compensation, and personal injury, though he has also worked on a limited amount of medical malpractice cases.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Bonnie has volunteered with the Baton Rouge Bar Association and acted as a deacon for the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He additionally maintains affiliation with the Civil War Round Table. Looking back on his illustrious career, he attributes his success to never giving up. In light of his accomplishments, Mr. Bonnie earned a certificate for 100+ hours of pro-bono work. In the next five years, he is considering retirement, as he has been working for many years and feels ready to move forward to the next chapter of his life. Mr. Bonnie is excited to spend more time with his four granddaughters and two grandsons, all of whom he considers to be consistent sources of motivation.
