Neal R. Stoll, Retired Partner at Skadden Arps LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in litigation.

Holding a deep passion for history, Mr. Stoll pursued a career in law at the recommendation of his father in order to explore various avenues of his desired subjects and teaching. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history, with distinction, from the Pennsylvania State University in 1970, he went on to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Fordham University in 1973. Soon thereafter, Mr. Stoll was admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Stoll commenced his career as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in 1973, moving up to a partner in 1981. In 2017, he officially retired from Skadden Arps LLP.

Throughout the course of his more than 40-year career, Mr. Stoll has counseled his clients on antitrust matters in a variety of contexts such as mergers, acquisitions and dispositions and has represented such companies as EcoLab Inc., the May Department Store Co. and the Coca-Cola Co., among others. Notably, he has served as lead counsel in U.S. v. The Gillette Company and U.S. v. Rank Organisation PLC. In addition to his legal career, Mr. Stoll excelled in his role as a lecturer at the Practicing Law Institute in the 1990s. Looking back, Mr. Stoll is most proud of his litigation success record with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

 A prolific writer, in addition to his legal responsibilities, Mr. Stoll is the co-author of, “Acquisitions Under the Hart Scott Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act” from 1980, 1988 and 2008. He also co-authored the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Column for the New York Law Journal from 1981 to 2013, as well as contributed more than 360 articles to professional publications. Mr. Stoll holds membership with the Trade Regulation Committee, Association of the Bar of the City of New York, American Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.

Finding great success in his career trajectory, Mr. Stoll was the recipient of a Top New York Lawyer Award and has repeatedly been included in the Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Additionally, in 2001, he was the recipient of the Penn State Liberal Arts Graduate Achievement Annual Award. To attest to his legacy, Mr. Stoll can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
