In an effort to remain up to date regarding changes and alternations to the field of law, Ms. Jacobson holds membership with the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives, California Public Defenders Association, California Trial Lawyers Association and California Union of Safety Employees, as well as the Traynor Honor Society of the University of the Pacific. Looking ahead, she plans to spend more time at her home in Oregon while remaining active in her professional work. In her free time, Ms. Jacobson enjoys collecting antiques and taking classes in pattern, drafting and design.
Coming from a family of medical professionals, Ms. Jacobson originally pursued a career in optometry. In 1967, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University and went on to achieve a Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1971. Ms. Jacobson worked with her father for the first few years of her medical career while also serving as a researcher in cardiology and neurology, as well as a laboratory medical cytologist at Temple Medical School. After her father fell ill, she began to realize that she did not want to run an ophthalmology office on her own. While thinking of a new career path, Ms. Jacobson decided to choose law school, which would essentially sharpen her oral language and writing skills.
