John Chapman Bell Jr., Senior Partner at Bell & Brigham, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in trial law.
Following in the footsteps of his father, a successful lawyer, Mr. Bell had always planned on pursuing a career in law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Augusta College, now known as Augusta University, and then went on to acquire a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Georgia School of Law. Certified to practice law in the states of South Carolina and Georgia, Mr. Bell commenced his career serving as a law clerk for the United States District Judge Wilbur D. Owens Jr. By 1974, he had gathered enough experience to relocate to Bell & Brigham. In the years since he has demonstrated consistent success in his roles as a senior partner and trial lawyer, where he specializes in handling complex cases, injury cases, environmental cases and some consumer class actions.
Outside of his legal ventures, Mr. Bell has found additional success as an author. Most recently, he published the article, “Proof of Causation,” in Trial Magazine. He has previously served as a co-author for the Handbook on Student Legal Rights, as well as two published case notes. In light of his many accomplishments, Mr. Bell was named among the 2012 Legal Elite. Further, he was recently named Lawyer of the Year by the Georgia Super Lawyers. Looking back on his illustrious career, he attributes his success to hard work and his willingness to learn from others. In the next five years, Mr. Bell hopes to remain happy and healthy.
