Mark F. Schlenker, District Associate Judge for the State of Iowa, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
A respected voice in his community, Mr. Schlenker has excelled as a district associate judge for the State of Iowa since 2011. Specializing in seeing criminal, civil, and juvenile cases on the bench, Mr. Schlenker gained legal experience as a partner at Hall & Schlenker from 1980 to 2011. Further, he served as assistant attorney general for the Iowa Department of Justice from 1978 to 1979. In his illustrious career focused on law and order, Mr. Schlenker has served as an honorary consul to the Federal Republic of Germany since 1994 and to the Republic of France since 2005. In these roles, he has reviewed files for concentration camp survivors and ensured they received proper compensation and restitution. He recalls this particular moment of his career as the most rewarding, as he had the opportunity to hear the client’s stories and help them win back a small amount of justice.
Mr. Schlenker received a Bachelor of Science in economics from Iowa State University in 1975 and went on to obtain a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Creighton University in 1978. That same year, he gained admittance to practice with the Supreme Court of Iowa, U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, as well as with the U.S. Supreme Court in 1992. In addition to his primary career focuses, Mr. Schlenker was president of his local Rotary chapter in 1991 and honorably named an Eagle Scout by the Boy Scouts of America. From the Boy Scouts, he was the recipient of a Silver Beaver Award in 2006, Order of the Arrow in 2009, and Vigil of Honor in 2019.
