Janet L. Bassitt, JD, Retired Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the law.
Backed by a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ms. Bassitt attended the John Marshall University and earned a Juris Doctor in 1980. From 1982 until 2004, she owned and operated her sole practice in Roselle, Illinois. Throughout her illustrious career, she additionally acted as an educator, working at Harper College, Roosevelt University, and the College of Financial Planning. Further, Ms. Bassitt found success as an author. Beyond being a contributor to articles in professional journals, she published her work, “Trust Yourself,” in 1990. An active participant in her industry, she maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
Though her career is abundant with highlights, Ms. Bassitt considers her greatest achievement to be publishing her book on attorney conduct. It was considered a landmark volume and covered something new in Illinois state law. In light of her numerous accomplishments, she has been the recipient of many awards. Most recently, she was appointed as a member of the standing committee on liaison with the attorney registration and disciplinary commission for the Illinois State Bar Association. Looking toward the future, Ms. Bassitt hopes to create a change in the laws of Illinois, as she has witnessed a great deal of corruption. She would like to write more as well.
