Working out of his own private practice, Harvin & Harvin, LLP, in Stuart, Florida, since 1976, Mr. Harvin is a pronounced attorney and senior partner who has accrued more than 40 years of experience in the legal industry. Earning an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for both ethical standards and legal ability, he is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, as well as the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Specializing in estate planning, probate, and trust litigation, and real estate development, closings, and litigation, Mr. Harvin draws upon a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of South Florida from 1971 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Stetson University from 1976. Prior to opening his own firm, he served as general counsel for the Thomas J. White Development Corporation and was a legal counsel for the St. Lucie County Code Enforcement Board. Civically involved as well, he has contributed to the American Heart Association of Martin County as a board of directors member, the Treasure Coast Wildlife Hospital as a board of directors member, and the Martin County Band Booster, Inc., as president. In addition, he is a past member of the board of directors of the First United Methodist Church Preschool and past assistant scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America.
A former member of the Florida Army National Guard, Mr. Harvin has maintained affiliation with the American Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Likewise, he is a past president of the Martin County Bar Association.
Inspired to enter the legal industry by his belief in a lawyer’s practice of obtaining proof prior to an accusation, Mr. Harvin lives by his father’s motto, “Trust but Verify.” Married to his wife Kay since 1964, he is the proud father of one son, Wesley Reid II, with whom he shares his practice. He is also the grandfather of one grandchild, Ruby. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, biking, scuba diving, and fishing.
