Richard C. Miller Jr., Attorney at Law at Law Offices of Richard C. Miller Jr., PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in real estate law.
Specializing in title litigation, contractor and construction-related law, planning and zoning approvals, and landlord-tenant issues, Mr. Miller and his private practice focus their attention on residential and commercial real estate transactions. Opening his practice in 2005, he previously served myriad firms in increasingly responsible positions beginning in 1979. Hired by Herbert B. Sunshine in Latham, New York, as an associate for one year, he moved on to Joseph A. Barbetta in Clifton Park, New York, from 1979 to 1981. From 1981 to 1983, he was a partner at Barbetta & Miller, and from 1983 to 1985, a partner at Miller & Williams. For the following 20 years, he was the sole shareholder in Clifton Park before opening his own practice.
Likewise, Mr. Miller is a former assistant attorney for the Town of Clifton Park, former attorney for the Rexford Water District in New York, and former corporate counsel for the Homestead Funding Corporation. Since 1992, he has served as an attorney for the Industrial Development Agency, having previously been a consultant attorney for the Zoning City of Saratoga Springs.
Involved in his local community, Mr. Miller maintained membership with Schenectady Youth Hockey from 2004 to 2010, was president of the Clifton Park Baseball League from 1993 to 1996 and was a member of the Saratoga County Republican Financial Committee from 1989 to 1990. Previously, he was an alternate delegate for the Fourth Judicial District of the New York State Judicial Convention, member of the regulatory affairs committee for the Town of Clifton Park, chairman of the master plan technology advisory committee for the Town of Clifton Park, and treasurer of the Clifton Park Republican Committee.
Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University from 1975 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Union University from 1978. He was admitted to the New York Bar, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. He was initially inspired to pursue law by a foreign exchange student who came from Portugal to finish his senior year of high school in the United States. The student’s father was a distinguished lawyer, and the student advised Mr. Miller to enter the field of law as he could contribute positively to his community.
To remain abreast of developments in the field, Mr. Miller has maintained membership with the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Saratoga County Bar Association, for whom he served on the executive committee in 1985. He was also a member of the Cornell University Quill and Dagger Society. Mr. Miller has been highlighted in the second and third editions of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, the fifth edition of Who’s Who in American Law, and the 22nd edition of Who’s Who in the East.
