Patricia J. Chvatal, Owner at the Chvatal Law Office, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family law.
Specializing in child custody, litigation, complex property issues and other areas associated with family law, Ms. Chvatal has accrued more than 40 years of professional experience in the legal industry. In 1972, Ms. Chvatal received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Carroll College. After achieving a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from Gonzaga University in 1976, she was admitted to the Washington State Bar and began serving as an associate for Bennett and Carroll until 1978.
Continuing her career, in 1979 she served as a junior partner at Bennett, Carroll and Chvatal before being promoted to the role of partner at Carroll and Chvatal, where she remained until 1981. Since 1990, Ms. Chvatal has been a partner at Carroll, Chvatal and Heye, and has founded her own eponymously-named firm, the Chvatal Law Office in Richland, Washington. Notably, Ms. Chvatal is one of the first women to practice law in the Tri-City area during the beginning stages of her career.
Alongside her professional pursuits, Ms. Chvatal has served on several committees affiliated with the Washington State Bar Association, including the state executive board family law committee for six years. Additionally, she was president and vice president of the Benton Franklin County Bar Association. Civically involved as well, she was the school commissioner for Christ the King School, state president of the Business Professional Women and has served on the board of directors of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Likewise, she currently sits on the board of directors of Tri-City Prep and board of trustees for Carroll College.
Accruing several accolades throughout her career, Ms. Chvatal received the Albert J. Yencopal Award for Community Service from the Washington State Bar Association in December 2008 in light of her outstanding volunteer work and legal services for the Tri-City community. With these distinguished achievements, however, she cites a highlight of her career to be helping families through her law firms and also adopting two children from Romania. To attest to her legacy, Ms. Chvatal was selected for inclusion in the 71st edition of Who’s Who in America in 2018.
