Dalton B. Floyd Jr., Esq., Founding Partner of The Floyd Law Firm PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction, purchase, development, sales, and the leasing of golf facilities.
Mr. Floyd wanted to be a lawyer when he was in high school. He was good at mathematics, so, in college, he first majored in engineering. He later realized it was not what he wanted to do; after a year, he changed to business. Years later, after spending time in the military and becoming a father, he decided to attend law school. Mr. Floyd matriculated at the University of South Carolina earning a Bachelor of Science in business management in 1960, a Juris Doctorate cum laude in 1963, and a Bachelor of Laws. Upon completion of his degrees, Mr. Floyd was admitted to practice law in the state of South Carolina in 1963. He joined the United States Air Force in 1963, gaining the title of Captain until he finished his time in the service in 1966.
Mr. Floyd’s career highlight was being awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor Mark Sanford on September 14, 2005, which is the state’s highest civilian award for service to his state. He also enjoys helping people and giving back. He enjoys working with young people and teaching. Mr. Floyd became an instructor in 1964 at the University of Maryland in Ankara, Turkey until 1965. From there, he became founding partner and senior partner of The Floyd Law Firm PC in 1973, where he remains to this day. In 1977, he also took on the role of instructor at the Healy Real Estate Institute until 1980. Since 1997, Mr. Floyd has been a lecturer and instructor of The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He is also the founder and president of Golf Rx Associates.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Floyd has been named to The Bar Register of AV Preeminent Lawyers in 2019, Lawyers of Distinction in 2019, Top Rated Lawyer for AVVO in 2019 and Judicial Av Rating in 2019. He was admitted to the Florence School District #3 Hall of Fame in 1999. He has been inducted as a member of various esteemed organizations including, Surfside Area Rotary Club, South Carolina Bar, American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, Florence County Building Commission, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Delta Phi, and Kappa Alpha.
