A respected voice in his field, Mr. Zischkau has excelled as the principal and proprietor of his law firm, Herbert Zischkau III, Attorney at Law, in DeBary, Florida since 2006. Specializing in eminent domain, health law, local government law, probate law, real estate, and real property, Mr. Zischkau previously served as an attorney for Bogin, Munns & Munns PA from 2004 to 2006. In his first professional role, he was the assistant county attorney for the Seminole County Attorney’s Office from 1996 to 2004, in which he litigated land use appeals, brought lawsuits to pay just compensation to land and business owners and acquired land for the widening of roads and other public purposes.
Mr. Zischkau earned a BA in social studies from Harvard College in Massachusetts in 1974 and went on to earn a JD from the Columbia University School of Law in New York in 1977. Now licensed to practice law for more than 35 years, he first gained admittance to practice in New York in 1978. Mr. Zischkau is also permitted to practice in the states of Pennsylvania and Florida, as well as U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third and Eleventh Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of New York, Southern District of New York and Middle District of Florida. In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Zischkau is a member of the General Counsel with the Florida Republican Assembly and was the city commissioner of the City of Dayton from 2007 to 2012.
Looking back on his illustrious career, Mr. Zischkau attributes his success to his ability to navigate legal procedures in order to find the truth to present in court. He also owes much of his success to the influence and example of his parents. His father is a retired engineer and his mother was an artist, both graduates of Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, and they always taught Mr. Zischkau about the things he was curious about and eager to learn. Along with the support of his family, Mr. Zischkau was inspired to pursue a career in law by a guidance counselor, who he later discovered was former NFL Superbowl Quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, Bill Mackrides.
