Kent Hyde, Partner at Hyde, Love & Overby, LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical malpractice.
Supported by 35 years of expertise in the field of medical malpractice litigation, Mr. Hyde has excelled as a partner of Hyde, Love & Overby, LLP since 1995. Prior to this appointment, he excelled as an associate and, later, as a partner with Harrison, Tucker, & Geisler from 1984 to 1994. Additionally, he has served as the founding member and chairman of The Bar Plan, an insurance company, since 1986.
A graduate of Missouri State University, Mr. Hyde initially earned a Bachelor of Science in agriculture in 1981 and aspired to have a career in farming. However, the United States experienced an economic downturn, which made Mr. Hyde’s dream of becoming a farmer unlikely. It was then that he decided to pursue a career in the legal field and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1984. He was admitted to practice law by the Missouri Bar during the same year and was later licensed to practice in Arkansas.
In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Hyde was most proud of his time in law school, where he worked as a clerk at a law firm. The firm conducted business with a livestock company, who had a case on cattlemen out of Texas and another case pending in Missouri. Fortunately, one of the partners at the firm quit and Mr. Hyde was hired to take on the case. After five days of evaluation, the jury came back and the verdict was announced in favor of Mr. Hyde’s client, to his surprise.
In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Hyde was elected as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2004. Likewise, since 2010, he has been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers. To remain aware of changes in the legal field, Mr. Hyde has maintained a professional relationship with the Arkansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Missouri Bar Association.
