Mr. McKenzie’s childhood dream was to change in the world, and he realized through education and his passion for justice that he could do so through law. Mr. McKenzie went on to receive a BA in economics and political science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, magna cum laude, and obtained a JD at the Boston University School of Law. Backed by more than 40 years of experience practicing law in the areas of business litigation, probate administration, bankruptcy, tax appeals, and business law, Mr. McKenzie currently serves as the managing director and founder of McKenzie and Associates, P.C., making him well recognized among practitioners involved in representing family-owned business and non-profit organizations throughout Massachusetts. He commenced his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Notably, in 2010, Mr. McKenzie was appointed Honorary Consul to Boston by the Government of Jamaica, which involves representing the interests of the Government and operating the Jamaican Consulate and serving more than 125,000 Jamaicans residing in New England.
Mr. McKenzie is a fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation and American Bar Foundation, and holds membership with the American Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association and is the former president of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Law American Inn of Court. Upon his civic activities, he sits on the Advisory Board of the Center for Urban Ministerial Education at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, is Vice President of the Executive Council of the Boston University School of Law Alumni Association and serves as Legal Counsel and Vice Chair of the Renovation and the Business and Finance Committees to Peoples Baptist Church. To add to his career success, Mr. McKenzie has received many awards and citations for his work, including a U.S. Small Business Administration (Region I) and named Minority Businessperson of the Year. The Greater Boston Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women granted him the Liberating Vision Award for community service and St. John’s Baptist Church gave him the Plumber Turner Award for his work as an adult Sunday School teacher. Additionally, Boston Magazine has named Mr. McKenzie to its Massachusetts Super Lawyers List in 2003, 2004 and 2006, and he was the featured attorney of the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court for June and July of 2009.
