Certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in 1984, Mr. Hyde obtained a Juris Doctor from the Texas College of Law in Houston in 1989 and is now licensed to practice before the Texas and United States District Courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit. Notably, Mr. Hyde has been named to Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers in recent years, and he earned an AV-Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell from 2010 to 2015. Looking back on his illustrious career, Mr. Hyde is most proud of his contributions to the cases of Warren v. Chevron and Elennder v. Mobil, as well as his experience in trying some of the biggest Benzene Patients.

Mr. Hyde is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a member of the Port Arthur and Jefferson County Bar Associations, the Aggie Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Trial Lawyers, the National Association of Justice, and the American Industrial Hygiene Associations. His advice to aspiring lawyers is to never glaze over readings. He suggests they must read the first word, last word, and everything in between in order to fully comprehend their assignment, as there is a strong chance similar scenarios may present themselves in their future professional work. Throughout his career, Mr. Hyde has learned many useful skills to which he attributes to his father, Chief Master Sergeant Jesse Lee Hyde, the former managing partner of his firm, Walter Umphrey, and also Greg Thompson. Prior to his years in law, Mr. Hyde received a Bachelor of Science in engineering technology from Texas A&M University in 1979. In the years immediately following his graduation, he worked as a safety engineer and constructional hygienist with the Atlantic Richfield Chemical Company, before deciding to follow a new path in his career.
