Backed by more than 50 years of professional experience in representing clients in matters of health care, corporate law, and mergers and acquisition, Mr. Gillmor most recently spent 2009 until his 2016 retirement as a partner with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP. With his career success, some highlights have included negotiating the acquisition of more than 100 hospitals, nursing homes, HMOs and physician practice groups, leading him to being named to Best Lawyers in America for Health Care Law every year since 1993 and to the Expert Guide as a Leading U.S. Health Care Lawyer. He achieved a BA from Swarthmore College in 1959 and went on to obtain an LLB from the University of Pennsylvania in 1962, followed by service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963 to 1966 with time spent in Vietnam before his return as a captain.
Mr. Gillmor commenced his career in 1962 as an associate at Dewey Ballantine Bushby Palmer & Wood, and by 1979 had been with Hospital Affiliates International in Nashville as vice president and corporate counsel and senior vice president of general counsel, where he met his lifelong mentor, Jack Anderson. He spent 1980 and 1981 with INA Corporate and INA Health Care Group in Philadelphia as staff vice president and assistant general counsel, respectively, and then joined Gillmor, Mills & Gillmor in 1981 as a two-year partner. Returning to an executive health care role, Mr. Gillmor served as director and executive vice president of Health Am. Corp. from 1983 to 1986. Leading up to his final position, he served as a partner to Gillmor, Anderson & Gillmor, to Dearborn & Ewing and to Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry. To attest to his career success, Mr. Gillmor can also be found in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who In Finance and Industry.
