Mr. Neff earned a Bachelor of Science with high distinction from the University of Minnesota in 1970. From there he received a Juris Doctorate from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1976. Upon completion of his degrees, Mr. Neff was admitted to practice law in the states of Minnesota in 1976, Wisconsin in 1986, and North Dakota in 1994. He was also admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota in 1977, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in 1985, Supreme Court of the United States in 1985 and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin in 1992.
Mr. Neff began his career in 1970 as a teacher for the Hopkins Public Schools, remaining until 1972. In 1974, he became an instructor at the University of Minnesota until 1976. Mr. Neff started practicing law in 1976, at a private practice until 1979. From there, he became an assistant county attorney in Sibley County in 1979, staying in that position for a year. In 1981, he joined Hyatt Legal Services remaining until 1986. While there, he held the positions of managing attorney, regional partner, and professional development partner. He then became the president of Neff Law Firm, PA in 1986 and remains in that role to this day. Since 1994, Mr. Neff has been chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of the Professional Development Institute Inc. Throughout his career, Mr. Neff has authored numerous books, including “Great Mysteries of Crime,” published in 1991, “Mysterious Persons of the Past,” published in 1991, and “Lessons from the Eastern Warriors,” published in 1990, to name a few.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Neff has received numerous accolades including but not limited to being named Top 100 Civil Plaintiffs Lawyers in 2017, 10 Best Criminal Attorneys in 2016, received the Best of Minneapolis Attorneys Award in 2008 and Ronald Reagan Gold Medal Award in 2004. He has been inducted into various esteemed organizations including the American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association, and International Confederation of Jurists, to name a few. He is also listed in the 72nd edition of Who’s Who in America.
