Mr. Baird’s father was a contractor. Following his footsteps, Mr. Baird went to Texas Tech University to pursue engineering and construction. He has retinitis pigmentosa, which affects his vision. When he was 14, he began losing sight at night. After a year of realizing his vision would affect his career, his father suggested that he should use his mind and become a lawyer. He decided to change his major to political science, and pursue a career in law. Mr. Baird earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Texas Tech University in 1975. From there, he received a Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law in 1977. Upon completion of his degrees, Mr. Baird became board certified in estate planning & probate law, residential real estate law, commercial real estate law, and farm & ranch real estate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Baird attributes his success to his hard work but most importantly being surrounded by very bright and talented people, who helped push and make him successful. He cares about people he likes helping them solve their problems. He tries to bring imagination and creativity to solving people’s problems. Mr. Baird became an attorney at the Baird Crews Schiller & Whitaker, PC in 1978 and remains with the firm to this day. Since 1997, he has been an advisory board member at BBVA Compass. In his spare time, he contributes to Keep Temple Beautiful. As a testament to his success, Mr. Baird was named a Super Lawyer in 2002 and 2003 and he received an Outstanding Alumni Award. He has also been inducted as a member of the American Bar Foundation, American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, Texas Bar Foundation, State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association.
