For the entirety of his career, Mr. Thompson has served clients at McCanliss & Early, first joining the firm as an associate in 1975. In 1982, he became partner and continued to relentlessly fight for positive outcomes in his client’s cases. While in college he originally set his sight on a career in music, he switched to history and then came to political science after being drawn into the idea of civic duty. After earning a diploma from Andover Academy in 1967, he continued his education at Columbia University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. In 1974, he earned a JD from George Washington University and was subsequently admitted to practice in New York.
In addition to his work, Mr. Thompson has served his community in various positions. Since 1990, he has been a trustee for the Harding Educational and Charitable Foundation. He has also been the director of Adirondack Explorer since 2005 and a secretary and trustee of the Downtown Association since 1996. In 2004, Mr. Thompson became the president and trustee of the Montauk Club. In addition, he is a member of several organizations. He maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and has been president of the Oneida Boat Club since 2014.
