Larry Cary, Partner at Cary Kane LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in labor law.

Mr. Cary got involved in his profession when he was in college. He worked part-time to support himself at A&S, a department store in Brooklyn and while working there he started an effort to unionize employees and in the course of that he started to read up on labor laws. That is what got him interested in becoming a lawyer. Mr. Cary earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College in 1975. From there, he received a Master of Public Administration from New York University in 1979 and in 1983, he received a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. Upon completion of his degrees, Mr. Cary was admitted to practice law in New York, for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in 1984. Two years later, he was admitted to practice law for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and in 1989, he was admitted to practice law for the Supreme Court of the United States.

Once having his degree, Mr. Cary became a member of the counsel of Amalgamated Service & Allied Industries Joint Board, Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (Now Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America) from 1984 to 1987. Previously he worked as an organizer for the Local 3 United Storeworkers RWDSU from 1975 to 1976, as a research assistant for the Storeworker’s Security Plan from 1976 to 1977, as a developmental specialist for Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives from 1978 to 1980 and as a special assistant professor at Hofstra University from 1983 to 1985. In 1987, Mr. Cary became an associate at Vladeck Waldman Elias & Engelhard and stayed on until 1991 and as a member from 1991 to 2004. From there he became a partner at Cary Kane, LLP in 2004 and remains there to this day.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Cary was an honoree in the New York Metro Edition of Super Lawyers from 2010 to 2016, received a John Comerford Labor Education Award from the New York Labor History Association in 2011 and has received an AV-Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been inducted as a member of the New York State Bar Association, ABA, Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Federal Bar Council and a fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Inc., to name a few.
