Jerry Jones, Member and Attorney at Flaherty Jones Thompson PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in trusts, estate planning and probate law.

Mr. Jones was drawn to the field of law as early as six years old and made conscious decisions through his academic pursuits to land him in this line of work. After earning a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College in 1967, he continued at the University of Texas at Austin to receive a JD in 1971. His decision to practice trusts and estates came through determining these focus areas were a crossroads of one generation to the next and provided a window into how people treat others when they are sharing a family fortune. It further appealed to him because it involves the application of math, logic and psychology.  Mr. Jones is admitted to practice in all courts in the state of Texas, including the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals- 5th Circuit and the United States Tax Court. He is known for his exemplary work in representing beneficiaries and fiduciaries in fiduciary litigation.

Prior to accepting his current position in 2017, Mr. Jones was Of Counsel at Ikard & Golden from 1997 until 2017. In addition to this position, he has served with the Supreme Court, Probate Forms Task Force for the State Bar of Texas, for Pattern Jury Charges as Probate Committee Chair with the Family Law & Probate Volume and on the Probate Code Committee’s Section on Real Estate, Probate and Trust with the State Bar of Texas amidst many other committee roles. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was honored as Outstanding Lawyer Life Time Achievement Award, Lawyer of the Year in Litigation, Trusts and Estates in Austin by Best Lawyers in 2015, selected as a Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly from 2003 to 2017 and was listed among The Best Lawyers in America from 2006 to 2019. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Academy of Probate Lawyers, the Travis County Bar Association and the Bastrop County Bar Association.
